Pa. Judoka Loses Opening Match

Olympics quickly end for Vashkulat as he loses 1st match

Kyle Vashkulat’s Olympic run didn’t last long.

The Langhorne, Pa. native lost his opening Olympic match to Ramziddin Sayidov of Uzbekistan.

Vashkulat lost by ippon in the Men’s Half Heavyweight (220-pound) match. Sayidov used a O-soto-gari (a type of throw) to end the match at 1:44.

Vashkulat, 22, learned judo at the Liberty Bell Judo Club in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.
