Stranger Pays for Torrey Smith's Meal at Montgomery County Restaurant

"He had no clue I was an athlete. He just did it. I want to say thanks.”

An unknown man lent a helping hand to a well-known athlete without even knowing who he was.

Former Philadelphia Eagle Torrey Smith was eating at the Cracker Barrel restaurant on Gallagher Road in Plymouth Meeting with his two sons shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday. When he went to pay, he discovered someone already took care of the bill.

“Some older gentleman paid for my food because he said I was a good father,” Smith posted on Twitter. “If that was one of y’alls aunt/uncle fam/gpa let me know. He had no clue I was an athlete. He just did it. I want to say thanks.”

Smith’s tweet received hundreds of re-tweets and thousands of likes.

“If I can’t find them, I’ll pay it forward,” Smith tweeted.

The act of kindness is inspiring others as well.

“I think it should happen more frequently,” Trevor Ragbirsingh of Plymouth Meeting said. “With all the hate that’s happening in the world, I think people should reach out to other people. Lend a helping hand.”
