The Academy Awards – Eagles Edition

Macaulay Culkin stole the show - at least in Philly - during the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday night.

He thinks the Eagles deserved to take one home.

Thanks, Macaulay. That gives us an idea.

What other Eagles deserved an Oscar on Sunday night. The nominees are in:

Best supporting actor
Nick Foles
Halapoulivaati Vaitai
Nigel Bradham

All three players were called upon after the Eagles suffered major injuries throughout the season.

[NATL] The Best of the 2018 Oscars Red Carpet

Costume design
Lane Johnson
Jason Kelce
Chris Long
Malcolm Jenkins

Lane Johnson and Chris Long get equal parts credit for the dog masks. Malcolm Jenkins owns his own clothing store and is clearly the most dapper of the Birds. And Jason Kelce actually wore the Mummers costume to the parade. Donnie Jones and his sweatpants were unfortunately snubbed here.

Best live action short
The Electric Slide
The Home Run
The Jeff Lurie Shuffle
The Flying V

There were plenty to choose from in this category. The Eagles certainly didn't lack celebrations during their Super Bowl season. The Jeff Lurie Shuffle is the rare independent film that has a real shot.

Best Original Screenplay
The Philly Special
Wentz's Houdini
North Dakota Pass to Clement
Patrick Robinson Pick-6

Plenty of great plays from the championship season. For a long time the play Carson Wentz brought with him from North Dakota State looked like a front-runner. But The Philly Special is like Titanic in the Best Picture category in '97 - a no-doubter.

Best Original Song
"No One Likes Us, We Don't Care"
"Dreams and Nightmares"
"Bodak Yellow"
"Fly Eagles Fly"

Toward the end of the season "Dreams and Nightmares" became an anthem for the Eagles, even thought a few of the guys were caught dancing to "Bodak Yellow" in pregame warmups. But Kelce might have won it for "No One Likes Us, We Don't Care" at the parade.

Best Directing
Doug Pederson
Jim Schwartz
Howie Roseman
Frank Reich

The Eagles had plenty of directors. Pederson is the front-runner in this category but Schwartz led the defense and Roseman put together the whole team.

Best actor
- Nick Foles in The Philly Special
- Corey Clement in The Flea Flicker
- Doug Pederson in The Least Qualified Coach in NFL History

Foles' acting job on The Philly Special was, well, special. Clement did a great job selling that flea-flicker against the Vikings. And Pederson's performance, getting everyone to believe he wasn't a great coach, was pretty impressive too.
