Sox Fan Buries World Series Champions Hat at Wrigley Field

One White Sox fan may have jinxed — or perhaps reverse jinxed — the Cubs this year by burying a Sox treasure at Wrigley Field.

Allison Horne of ESPN and 120 Sports tweeted a photo of a White Sox "2005 World Series Champions" hat sitting atop some fresh cement at Wrigley Field. According to Horne, a Sox fan who worked on the recent renovations at Wrigley Field is responsible for the trick.

The photo does not indicate where the hat is buried in the ballpark, but perhaps the Cubs will want to leave it there as a good luck charm. So far, it seems to be working just as well as Cubs manager Joe Maddon's tricks, which included the promise of a Sunday night pajama party following the historic game against the L.A. Dodgers.

A similar incident happened in 2008 at Boston's Fenway Park, where a Yankees fan buried a David Ortiz jersey in the ballpark. The jersey was later located and removed from the cement with a jackhammer.
