Sixers Trade Jonathon Simmons to Wizards for No. 42 Pick, Cash Considerations

CAMDEN - Elton Brand wasn't done wheeling and dealing after moving up to No. 20 to acquire the rights to Washington's Matisse Thybulle Thursday night.

The Sixers are trading Jonathon Simmons and pick No. 42 to the Washington Wizards for cash considerations, a team source confirms to NBC Sports Philadelphia.

The move will free up a little extra space with Simmons' $5.7 million coming off the books - though only $1 million was guaranteed. That could come in handy with the Sixers having a lot of work to do in free agency. The team has just four players under contract, not including Thybulle and any players drafted Thursday night.

The cash considerations could go towards the luxury tax the team might have to pay if they're able to re-sign Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris.

The Sixers still have pick Nos. 34 and 54.
