CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Sixers are ready for things to get loud.
The Sixers host the Lakers in a highly-anticipated, nationally-televised matchup tonight. Sixers fans were well represented when the team played in Los Angeles last month, and it will be even louder on their home court.
"There's so much excitement," Robert Covington said after shootaround. "Philly wanted to see this from day one. This is one of the games I figure is going to be standing room only, sold out, anything, big plays you aren't going to be able to hear. You might go deaf in there."
The Sixers are looking to bounce back from a letdown loss to the Suns on Monday and can't take the 8-15 Lakers lightly. Covington said the Sixers are aware of the significance of a Thursday night game on TNT, one that highlights the matchups of young teams with top draft picks in Ben Simmons, Joel Embiid and Lonzo Ball. Still, they are not getting wrapped up in the spotlight.
"They're seeing a glimpse of what this team is capable of," Covington said. "It's still a lot to show. Once we unlock everything, the city of Philadelphia ain't going to be ready for it."
The Sixers have to gameplan in case they are without starter Dario Saric (left eye laceration/corneal abrasion suffered in Wednesday's practice) and key reserve T.J. McConnell (sprained AC joint in left shoulder). Both are listed as questionable.
