Former La Salle Star Doug Overton Faces Indecent Exposure Charges

Doug Overton, a former star guard at La Salle who went on to play in the NBA and for the Sixers, was charged with indecent exposure this week, according to Lower Merion police.

Overton, 47 years old and currently the head coach at Division II Lincoln University, was arrested for exposing himself to both men and women while on the Cynwyd Trail in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, on Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to the police report, multiple witnesses made calls alleging Overton was inappropriately exposing himself while walking. Per the police report, the first two witnesses were uncertain if Overton was improperly touching himself or going to the bathroom.

Speaking with CSNPhilly on Tuesday, Overton said he's innocent, adding that he had to relieve himself while walking his dog. Overton's attorney, Marty Mellany, said to CSNPhilly that the charges are "preposterous."

Overton was released on $10,000 bail, according to the arraignment report.

The Big 5 Hall of Famer played 11 years in the NBA, including parts of three seasons with his hometown Sixers. He's held assistant coaching jobs with the Sixers, Nets and Saint Joseph's.
