Chase Utley Reportedly Set to Announce Retirement

The Phillies legend, who know plays for the Dodgers, will reportedly hang up his cleats at the end of the season.

It appears The Man will be calling it a day … effective at the end of the 2018 season.

Chase Utley plans to retire at the end of the season, according to The New York Post's Joel Sherman. Utley will be holding a press conference Friday at 6:15 p.m. EST for an unconfirmed reason.

Utley, 39, has one year left on his contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

After the Dodgers announced Utley's news conference, many speculated the Phillies legend was going to announce his retirement with the All-Star break looming.

According to Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan, that is not the case.

If Utley does announce he's retiring at the end of the year, his final trip to Philly is right around the corner as the Dodgers will be visiting the Phillies on July 23-25.

When Utley returned to Philly for the first time as a Dodger on Aug. 17, 2016, the standing ovation was surreal. He's received cheers every time he's been back since.

But if this is indeed the end, expect Citizens Bank Park to be electric.

Stay tuned.
