• The Jay Bouwmeester Derby is on for the Philadelphia Flyers, according to TSN and ESPN and the Edmonton Journal.
• Meanwhile, Bucky Gleason of the Buffalo News made waves today by reporting that Flyers goalie Marty Biron could be headed back to the Buffalo Sabres in a three-team deal that would have Derek Morris going to Philly and Maxim Afinogenov (among others) going to the Phoenix Coyotes. [Buffalo News]
• Yeah, about that: Maybe someone should ask Biron if he's going to waive his no-trade clause. Because the Flyers haven't as of this afternoon. [Philly.com]
Preview: Philadelphia Flyers at Boston Bruins (7 p.m. EST; TV: CSP, NESN). It's Antero Niittymaki vs. Manny Fernandez the night before the trade deadline. Meanwhile, James Murphy explains how the Chris Pronger deal to the Bruins that was "agreed to in principle" ended up not happening, and says that Patrice Bergeron is in play for Pronger.

Preview: Pittsburgh Penguins at Tampa Bay Lightning (7:30 p.m. EST; TV: VS., TSN). In which the Bolts skate Ryan Malone out in his old Penguins uniform in the hopes that that Pittsburgh is unknowingly tricked into reacquiring him and the rest of his contract. In reality, Tampa is sitting both Mark Recchi and Gary Roberts in preparation of the trade deadline. Sidney Crosby will miss his fourth straight game; the Penguins are looking for their fourth straight win. Just the facts, ma'am.
• Chris Neil continues to talk money with the Ottawa Senators, and there's a chance he could stay if GM Bryan Murray moves either Antoine Vermette, Jarkko Ruutu or Christoph Schubert. Yeah, good luck on that Vermette thing. Maybe package him with Marty Gerber? [CBC Sports]
• Mirtle looks at the roughly 5,120 players that could be moved in the next 24 hours. Beware: At least a few of them have no-trade or no-movement clauses. And at least one of them is named "Wade Dubielewicz," which sounds totally made-up. [From The Rink]
Preview: Florida Panthers at Atlanta Thrashers (7 p.m. EST; TV: FSFL, SS). The Panthers begin what could be their last night with Jay Bouwmeester in the sixth seed in the East. Tomas Vokoun gets the start tonight, and defenseman Keaton Ellerby could have made his NHL debut.
Preview: New Jersey Devils at Toronto Maple Leafs (7:30 p.m. EST; TV: MSG+, RSN). Dominic Moore nor Nik Antropov are both out of the lineup tonight as the Leafs pack their respective bags. Meanwhile, Lou Lamoriello wants to do Scott Clemmensen a solid and trade him before the deadline.
• Martin Brodeur on the return of Sean Avery to the New York Rangers: "I have no thoughts about it ... He paid his dues to a certain extent for what he did and it's kind of nice for him to get a second chance at it." Being back in this division is really, really going to test that anger management rewiring. [Fire & Ice]
• Taking a critical look at the "distinct kicking motion" rule for goal reviews, and how it drives people to the brink of insanity. [WCHB]
Preview: Detroit Red Wings at St. Louis Blues (8:30 p.m. EST; TV: FSD, FSMW). Does this game determine whether or not the Blues are buyers or sellers on Wednesday? It's Chris Osgood against Chris Mason, who has allowed one goal in each of his last five games. The Wings are coming off that 8-0 loss to the Predators. They probably aren't happy about that.
Preview: Minnesota Wild at Vancouver Canucks (10 p.m. EST; TV: KSTC, RSW). Huge game for both teams, as the Canucks attempt to put nine points between themselves and the Wild, while Minny looks to snap a three-game losing streak. If we didn't say it before, we'll say it now: Nik Backstrom made out pretty damn well in his new contract extension. But at the same time, he's proven to be the right goalie for this franchise.
• Mike Gillis said he'd consider trading Alex Burrows is someone offered him 10 first-round picks. Man, that's as crazy as offering Mats Sundin $20 mil ...oh, right. [Province]
• Remember that Albany River Rats bus crash? The driver was cited for going a tad too fast. A big, whopping fifty bucks. [Times Union]
• Carrie Underwood is spending quality time with Mike Fisher's parents. Said someone who saw the couple: "She's very tiny and he's very tall, but they looked good together and very smitten." Well, there you go. [People]
