Polanco's Glove Is Golden Again

Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco had a down year at the plate but the All-Star third baseman shined in the field earning him his third Rawlings Gold Glove Award.

Polanco’s previous two Gold Gloves came as a second baseman with the Detroit Tigers.

Polly committed just eight errors in 345 chances at the hot corner this season while posting a .977 fielding percentage.

The rest of the National League Gold Glove winners were P Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers), C Yadier Molina (Cardinals), 1B Joey Votto (Reds), 2B Brandon Phillips (Reds), SS Troy Tulowitzki (Rockies), RF Andre Either (Dodgers), CF Matt Kemp (Dodgers) and LF Gerardo Parra (Diamondbacks).

Notably left off the recognized fielders was Shane Victorino. The Phillies centerfielder was denied his fourth consecutive Gold Glove despite posting no errors in 296 chances this season.

The Flyin' Hawaiian was possibly hurt by his lack of outfield assists. After 26 assists in his three Gold Glove-winning seasons, the All-Star had no assists this season.

The awards were announced Tuesday night.
