You can add another Phillies infielder to the mounting list of injuries.
Third baseman Placido Polanco left Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays after apparently hyperextending his surgically repaired left elbow while popping out to the pitcher in his only at bat of the game.
Polanco was removed as a precautionary measure after playing the field in the bottom of the first.
Polly described the injury as "a day-to-day thing."
There was worry, though, because the injury happened where Polanco had off-season elbow surgery.
"It’s right where I had the surgery, but it’s nothing bad," Polanco told the Delaware News Journal. "I’ve had it before. I’ve had it a million times. But the fact that I had surgery on that elbow -- we’re being safe -- we’re playing it very safe. We’ll see how it feels tomorrow and the next day, take it a day at a time."
This injury is near where Polanco had surgery on the elbow in November to remove scar tissue and bone spurs. He was limited to 132 games in 2010 while dealing with chronic left elbow pain.

The Phils could ill afford to lose Polly for any length of time. Second baseman Chase Utley has yet to play this season and could possibly miss significant time as he battles a knee injury.
Polanco could fill in for Utley at second base -- the position Polly won two Gold Gloves at while playing for Detroit -- but he could also possibly bat third in the Phillies lineup.
The Phillies also lost right fielder Domonic Brown to a broken hand that will cost him the start of the season and on Monday the team announced that Brad Lidge was being shutdown for a few days with bicep tendinitis.
