Phillies Parade Party Details

Parade to start at noon; School District closing 10 schools near parade route

The parade is here!  After years of waiting, it's time to celebrate in the streets of Philadelphia.

The Parade will start on Friday at noon at 20th and Market Streets.

The route will go up Market Street towards City Hall before going around and down Broad Street to the Stadium Complex.

The Phillies will be using Citizens Bank Park and Lincoln Financial Field to allow phans to share in the celebration. Both venues will be ticketed at no cost, according to Phillies President David Montgomery.

Nutter said that other activities will be offered along with the parade and celebration.

There were dozens of arrest on Wednesday night and the police are hoping people are better behaved at the parade on Friday, but are also planning to be prepared.

Philadelphia police will be out in force to keep phans safe by pulling officers off vacation and court duty to patrol the parade route said Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey .

PATCO and SEPTA will be offering expanded service to get fans around the parade route.

For fans in New Jersey, PATCO will run trains every five or six minutes from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, according to their Web site.

SEPTA is urging patience as they expect an overload of fans on the Broad Street Line. They will be running trains more frequently on all lines, including regional rail, to accommodate about 15,000 riders expected per hour.

Public and parochial schools will be in session on Friday, but the School District of Philadelphia has decided to close 10 schools and one early childhood Pre-K center located near the parade route.
