There are a few things you don't mess with in the city of Philadelphia and the Phillie Phanatic is one of those things.
I was having a pretty casual Thanksgiving Eve when I found out that the Phillie Phanatic started a Twitter account. I thought, makes sense, with the success Gritty has been having on the platform, it's a decent idea to migrate to the platform.
Then I saw the actual account and everything changed. There's no way this is the Phantic's official Twitter account.

First of all, as everyone knows, the Phanatic has an Instagram account, @PhilliePhanatic, that posts photos with no words. A staple of the mascot is that it does not talk. There's no way the Phillies would break from that tradition.
The tweet is poorly constructed. The social team at the Phillies is solid, there's no way it would send out a tweet that did not have proper grammar. This is simply not a grand enough first tweet for an American icon.
The account follows Mr. Met. Are you kidding me?
The @Phillies account hasn't interacted with the account in any way. Had the official Phillies account thrown so much as a like this way, I would be totally on board, but there's no way the Phanatic starts an account and the main Phillies account isn't involved in some fashion.
That's not stopping hundreds of fans from following this fraud of an account and showering this person with tweets.
I feel like this is time for an important lesson, before we embark on the holiday season: Don't believe everything you read on the internet. Take some time to ask questions and investigate.
To the person who made this fake Phanatic account, you're getting a sack of coal this Christmas, from Phanta Claus.
