A photo of a pair of custom Bryce Harper bats that bear the Phillies' logo and No. 34 on it was posted from the mega free agent's bat company of choice, Victus. And the photo has been making waves on social media for the past day.
They're pretty sick custom bats that appear to be from an unsent screenshot found on Reddit and was later posted on Twitter.
Obviously, Phillies fans have been in an uproar over the possibility of seeing Harper swing one of these, as the baseball community anxiously awaits Harper's decision, but the custom bats might just be a false alarm.
It looks like someone at Victus was just planning on being prepared in case the free agent signs a deal in Philadelphia. Apparently, the order was sent in a week and a half ago and was not a specific custom order.
So, from sources at Victus, the bats were made a week and a half ago and were not made as a special order.
Were made just in case it happens.— Jack Fritz (@JackFritzWIP) January 28, 2019
Fritz added in a later tweet that the bats were made and sent to Harper to help sway his decision.
A source within the company, though, told NBC Sports Philadelphia that the bats are a gift to Harper but not necessarily being used as a recruiting tool.
Harper has been linked with Victus, which is based in King of Prussia, in the past for special occasions, like the "We The People" bat he used to win the 2018 Home Run Derby, his Mother's Day bat, and has appeared on the company's social media page.
While we can't be positive that these Phillies custom bats will ever really be put to use, we certainly like the image of Harper rocking this awesome design at Citizens Bank Park this season.
