Phillies Lose Out to Nationals on Patrick Corbin

Patrick Corbin is not headed to the Yankees.

Nor is he headed to the Phillies.

The top free-agent lefty has agreed to a six-year deal with the Washington Nationals, according to the Washington Post.

Per Fancred's Jon Heyman, it's six years, $140 million. Woof.

The NL East is loading up. The Nats have added Corbin, though this now probably closes the book on a reunion with Bryce Harper. Washington also signed Kurt Suzuki and traded for Yan Gomes and Kyle Barraclough.

The Mets traded for Robinson Cano and Edwin Diaz, an elite closer the Phillies were also after.

Once the Mariners-Mets swap was completed, the Phillies traded for Jean Segura.
