Phillies Claim LHP Patrick Schuster Off Waivers From Oakland

The Phillies on Friday claimed left-handed pitcher Patrick Schuster off waivers from the Oakland Athletics and optioned him to Lehigh Valley.

Schuster has made 5 appearances for the A's this season and it hasn't gone well. In 6 2/3 innings Schuster allowed eight runs on nine hits and walked six batters.

The 25-year-old Florida native was a 13th-round pick of the Diamondbacks in 2009. He's since been in many club's minor league systems, but made his big-league debut on July 6 of this season with Oakland.
