Ouch.
Before today's game, Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer sustained an injury while taking part in the team's bunting drills, according to NBC Sports Washington's Todd Dybas.
Scherzer took a ball off the face when in the box for pitcher's BP. He was bunting and it came off the bat. This was caught by MASN cameras. He's with the trainer now, Martinez said.— Todd Dybas (@Todd_Dybas) June 18, 2019
As you can see in the video above, Scherzer attempts to bunt the ball and the ball deflects off his bat and hits him right in the face.
No update has been made on his condition or his status as a starting pitcher in one of tomorrow's games, Scherzer was seen wearing a splint.
