MLB Notes: Rangers Place A.J. Griffin on 15-day DL

DETROIT -- Texas Rangers right-hander A.J. Griffin has been put on the 15-day disabled list after leaving his start Saturday with stiffness in his throwing shoulder.

Griffin is expected to be examined Monday. He left Saturday's game at Detroit in the third inning.

Texas recalled reliever Alex Claudio from Triple-A Round Rock. Claudio was optioned to Round Rock on Saturday but never left the Detroit area because of Griffin's injury that afternoon.

Griffin is 3-0 with a 2.94 ERA in six starts this season.

Reds: Waldrop called up; Schebler optioned
CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds have recalled outfielder Kyle Waldrop from Triple-A Louisville before Sunday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Waldrop replaces outfielder Scott Schebler, who was optioned to Louisville following Saturday night's 13-7, 10-inning loss to the Brewers.

Waldrop hit .228 with four home runs and 11 RBIs over 26 games with the Bats, including a team-leading 22 starts in right field.

Schebler, acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of the off-season three-team deal that sent third baseman Todd Frazier from the Reds to the Chicago White Sox, made Cincinnati's opening day roster and hit .188 with one home run and eight RBIs in 27 games.

Cubs: Ramirez activated from bereavement list
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs have activated reliever Neil Ramirez from the bereavement list and optioned right-hander Spencer Patton to Triple-A Iowa.

The Cubs announced the moves before Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals.

The right-handed Ramirez began the day with a 4.50 ERA in six appearances.

Patton made one appearance for the Cubs.
