Little Chance Nats Can Afford Reunion With Bryce Harper Now

Patrick Corbin is not headed to the Yankees.

Nor is he headed to the Phillies.

The top free-agent lefty has agreed to a six-year deal with the Washington Nationals, according to the Washington Post.

Per Fancred's Jon Heyman, it's six years, $140 million. Woof.

The NL East is loading up. The Nats have added Corbin, though this now probably closes the book on a reunion with Bryce Harper. Corbin's contract will push the Nationals to $200 million or slightly above in 2019. Unless they are prepared to spend $60 million more than they ever have in a single season, there's next to no chance Harper stays put.

Washington also signed Kurt Suzuki and traded for Yan Gomes and Kyle Barraclough.

The Braves brought in Josh Donaldson and Brian McCann.
