Phighting Hunger

The Phillies and Citizens Bank team up with Philabundance to combat hunger

On Sunday the Phillies and Citizens Bank will be teaming up with Philabundance through the Phans Feeding Families program to fight for hunger relief for the thousands of people in the Delaware Valley afflicted.

A food drive will be taking place, with thousands of fans expected to participate, bringing non-perishable food items to SEPTA’s AT&T Station or Citizen Bank Park’s entrance gates.

In addition, almost 200 fans will be attending the Phillies VIP Tent Party for a Cause between 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m on Darien Street outside the stadium. The money from each ticket sold will help provide 150 meals for those in need and Phillies ace Roy Halladay is expected to make an appearance.

Fans are also encouraged to purchase a $5 Phans Feeding Families Pin to help those in need.

Furthermore, in a unique move, nine different Phillies sponsors will be taking part in the first pitch ceremony, each representing 100,000 of those affected by hunger.

Philabundance President and Executive Director Bill Clark, Roy and Brandy Halladay, Citizens Bank President and CEO (for PA, NJ and DE) Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, Phillies President David Montgomery, former Phillie Darren Daulton, broadcaster Tom McCarthy and the Phanatic are among those expected to take part in the day’s many events.
