Phew — Gagne Not Hurt Badly

Winger should be on the ice to start training camp

Good news from Flyers camp Wednesday. Forward Simon Gagne has a mild groin strain and should be ready for training camp next month.

Gagne injured his groin Monday night while practicing with Team Canada and returned to Philadelphia to be examined by team doctor Peter DeLuca.

The left winger received an injection and can return to the ice in two weeks -- in time for the start of training camp on Sept. 12., said Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren.

The 29-year-old was third on the team with 74 points last season and scored 34 goals, second on the team behind Jeff Carter.

Gagne had hip surgery to remove a bone spur and adhesions in May.

He should hopefully be healthy for the start of the season.
