Phillies ace Cole Hamels only has an inflamed throwing elbow, according to a report on ESPN.com.
Hamels was in Philly Tuesday to get his elbow examined by team physicians. They found no structural damage.
He received an anti-inflammatory shot and was sent on his way, said ESPN's Buster Olney.
When will Hamels rejoin his team? "He'll be back tonight," Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. told ESPN.
It is right now unknown whether Hamels will be ready for Opening Day. "It's probably a long shot," said pitching coach Rich Dubee.
