Penn State Wants to Sell Alcohol at Games

A committee of Penn State trustees says some fans should be able to buy alcohol at the university's football and basketball stadiums, as well as other athletic facilities.

The proposal recommended on Thursday is expected to be approved by the full board on Friday.

University officials say sales would be limited to private and controlled areas, including suites and club seats. Beer and wine could be sold to all patrons of legal age at non-collegiate sports events. Officials say there would be limits on the number of drinks patrons can have.

The university would have to obtain a liquor license.

Some alcohol sale proceeds would go to student affairs for alcohol awareness.

University officials say selling alcohol has yielded fewer alcohol-related issues at concerts than expected.
