Nittany Lions Roar to the Top Five

Penn State Earns No. 3 Ranking in Polls

It's all smiles lately in Happy Valley because the undefeated Nittany Lions are ranked third in the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches' polls for the first time since the end of the 2005 season.

The Wisconsin Badgers were the Lions' latest victim as Penn state rolled to a 48-7 win.

This is the 11th time a Joe Paterno-coached Penn State team has started the season 7-0.

Next up for the Lions are the Michigan Wolverines at Beaver Stadium. The Homecoming game will mark the third straight week that Penn State will be playing nationally on ESPN, according to the PSU Sports Web site.

The October 18 game will mark the 89th annual Penn State homecoming.
