The Flyers (15-17-5) can move out of last place Monday night when they take on the Hurricanes (15-17-5) to finish off the 2018 portion of their schedule.
Let's look at the essentials:
• When: 6 p.m. ET with Flyers Pregame Live at 5:30 p.m.
• Where: PNC Arena
• Broadcast: NBC Sports Philadelphia

• The Flyers have earned points in four of their six games under interim head coach Scott Gordon, going 3-2-1 thus far. All six of those games have been decided by one goal.
Prior to Gordon's arrival, the Flyers had just three wins in one-goal games. Before this six-game stretch, the Flyers hadn't played in more than two straight one-goal games all season. Overall, the Flyers own 10 one-goal losses, five of which have come in overtime.
So the Flyers have made some strides in close games and have yet to be thoroughly outplayed or blown out with Gordon behind the bench.
Philadelphia Flyers
Complete coverage of the Philadelphia Flyers and their rivals in the NHL from NBC Sports Philadelphia.
Still, if the Flyers want to climb the standings, they must make more winning plays in tight games or when trying to hold a lead.
The Hurricanes are one of only two NHL teams without a win when trailing after two periods. They are 0-13-2 in such situations and have 17 losses when the opposition scores first, tied for third most in the league.
If the Flyers jump out to a lead Monday night, they must finish off Carolina.
• The Hurricanes have been the NHL's worst team since Nov. 30, going 3-8-2 with eight points and 26 goals - both league lows.
For the Flyers, Monday night kicks off a four-game regular-season series against Carolina, a matchup Gordon's club must take advantage of as both teams have 35 points.
• Sebastian Aho should have all of the Flyers' focus. The 21-year-old winger leads the Hurricanes with 15 goals and 24 assists and has killed the Flyers in his career with 12 points (six goals, six assists) over nine lifetime meetings.
He also owns four-point games against Tuukka Rask and Braden Holtby this month.
• Carter Hart will make his fifth start in net for the Flyers. He's been a major positive since being called up two weeks ago, as he's gone 2-2-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average and .917 save percentage.
