Best of NHL: Athanasiou, Red Wings Rally to Rout Penguins 6-3

DETROIT -- Andreas Athanasiou went end to end with the puck, split two defenders and flipped a fluttering puck into the net.

That spectacular third-period goal gave the Detroit Red Wings their first lead and they pulled away to beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-3 on Saturday night.

"It's definitely a feel-good moment," Athanasiou said.

Detroit is in desperate need of points as its streak of playing in 25 straight postseasons is in jeopardy after starting the day tied for last in the Eastern Conference (see full recap).

Canadiens rally with 3 goals in 62 seconds to beat Rangers
MONTREAL -- It took a 62-second outburst in the third period for the Montreal Canadiens to turn a sour mood in the Bell Centre into a celebration.

Alexei Emelin, Max Pacioretty and Paul Byron scored in rapid succession and the Canadiens rebounded after a disputed goal against and the ejection of wing Andrew Shaw for a 5-4 victory over the New York Rangers on Saturday night.

Jagr lifts Panthers past Blue Jackets, 4-3
UNRISE, Fla. -- The Florida Panthers again got the better of the NHL's best team.

Jaromir Jagr scored early in the third period, helping lead the Panthers past the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 on Saturday night.

With the Panthers leading 3-2, Jagr slid in a loose puck behind Joonas Korpisalo for his eighth goal of the season 1:27 into the third (see full recap).
