Wow.
That's the feeling after reading Earl Wolff's story.
It truly is heart-pumping.
If you recall, Wolff was drafted by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2013 draft. The safety played parts of two seasons with the Eagles before injuries forced his exit in August 2015.
Wolff is now fighting for his career with the Jaguars. But he's just happy to be alive after an ordinary February evening turned into a life-threatening experience, one he calls "the longest night of my life."
In early March, news broke that Wolff was kidnapped at gunpoint. He was eventually freed. In a story written by Wolff himself for Monday Morning Quarterback on SI.com, the former Eagle details it all.
These excerpts are just the start of it.
Philadelphia Eagles
Complete coverage of the Philadelphia Eagles and their NFL rivals from NBC Sports Philadelphia.
My 2011 white Range Rover is parked on the street. As I get in and reach for the seatbelt, someone yanks my door open. There’s a man wearing a black ski mask and pointing an AK-47 inches from my face.
And ...
"Why are you lying?” says the man in the front passenger seat. “Lie to me again and I’ll kill you.”
I can’t feel my mouth when I talk. I try to breathe. I think of my mom. I think of God. I stare straight ahead. I’m trembling.
Serious props to Wolff for his willingness to relive that harrowing night.
By reading his story, you also learn of Wolff's upbringing and special relationship with his mother.
It is without a doubt worth your time. Read it here on SI.com.
