Eagles Snap Counts: Meet Feature Back Josh Adams

Allow me to introduce feature back Josh Adams. Because that's how the Eagles used him in Sunday's 25-22 win over the Giants.

Adams played 40 of 65 (62 percent) offensive snaps for the Eagles on Sunday, while Corey Clement got just 24 (37 percent) and Wendell Smallwood was down to one snap.

This is just the fourth time this season an Eagles running back has gotten over 40 snaps in a game. The last time was in the first Giants game back on Oct. 11. In that game, Smallwood got 44 of 71 snaps.

Adams made the most of his snaps. He had 22 carries for 84 yards and some of those were tough yards. It's the first time an Eagles running back has had 22 carries since Ryan Mathews in 2016. That's the only other time during the Doug Pederson Era. The last time an Eagles rookie did it was Bryce Brown back in 2012.

Other offensive snap count notes

• The Eagles worked Dallas Goedert back into the rotation a little more. He got 36 snaps and caught three passes for 33 yards. Before this game, he didn't have a catch in November.

• Golden Tate got 39 snaps (60 percent) and caught four passes for 30 yards. He's still clearly the third guy after Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor. It seemed like the Eagles made an effort to get Tate involved on Sunday.

• Carson Wentz and his OL played every snap except for Brandon Brooks, who missed just four plays. He got his ankle rolled up on but came back in the game. He'll be a little sore, but good for next week.

Defensive snap count notes

• Just nine days after being called up from the practice squad, cornerback De'Vante Bausby played 61 of 62 defensive snaps.

Bausby was a part of a cornerback trio of newcomers that also included Cre'Von LeBlanc and Chandon Sullivan. All three had been with the team one month or less at kickoff. Le'Blanc played 45 snaps (73 percent) and Sullivan played 42 snaps (68 percent) before getting hurt.

• Remember when Jim Schwartz said it wasn't ideal to play Corey Graham for an entire game? Well, forget all that. He's their best option thanks to all these injuries. He played 60 of 62 snaps. The only players to play all 62 were Malcolm Jenkins and Nigel Bradham.

• Without Jordan Hicks, Bradham obviously played the whole game. Kamu Grugier-Hill played 34 snaps and Nate Gerry played 33.

• In his season debut, Tim Jernigan sort of eased back into action. He played 20 snaps (32 percent), while Fletcher Cox played 49 and Haloti Ngata played 25. Treyvon Hester got 15. It would make sense for the Eagles to slowly increase Jernigan's role.

• At defensive end, Brandon Graham led the way with 49 snaps, followed by Chris Long (40), Michael Bennett (36) and Josh Sweat (11). Bennett left the game briefly with an injury but returned.

• Rasul Douglas (knee, ankle) is still hurt and got just two snaps. One of them was that 51-yard touchdown run from Saquon Barkley.
