Eagles 7th-round Picks: S Mills, DE McCalister, LB Walker

The Eagles addressed their defense with their final four picks of the draft. After taking DB Blake Countess out of Auburn (see story) in the sixth round, they added another defensive back, a defensive end and finally a linebacker in the seventh round:

Jalen Mills, safety, LSU (233rd overall)
Mills was a four-year starter at LSU, even starting as a true freshman after Tyrann Mathieu was dismissed from the team.

In four season in Baton Rouge, Mills (6-0, 196) played all across the secondary, including in the slot. Mills recorded 216 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks, intercepted six passes and had 16 pass breakups in his career.

Mills fractured his fibula in the 2015 preseason, but missed just five games before returning to game action.

There are some off-the-field concerns with Mills, which, combined with injuries, caused him to fall to the seventh round. He was arrested for second-degree battery of a woman in the summer of 2014. The charges were later reduced to a misdemeanor.

Alex McCalister, DE, Florida (240th)
McCalister (6-6, 238) underachieved a bit during his time in Florida. The end was a four-star recruit coming out of high school. McCalister redshirted his freshman year and spent parts of his next two seasons as a role player. McCalister led the team with 6.5 sacks in just nine games last season before suffering a season-ending foot injury.

McCalister missed Florida's season opener because of a violation of the University Athletic Association policy and he was eventually dismissed from the team following his injury for a violation of team rules.

A three-year starter, Walker had 120 career tackles, 16 for loss, one interception and two fumble recoveries as a Duck.
