Eagles Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Brooks was back at practice today after a scary dehydration incident that sent him to the hospital Saturday and kept him out of Sunday's session.
On Sunday, head coach Doug Pederson said Brooks was out with an "illness," but it was a little more than that.
"I came out here and got dehydrated. It was humid," Brooks said to NBC Sports Philadelphia. "My kidneys weren't functioning the way they needed to, which was pretty scary in itself. But got my numbers back down and wanted to get back out here with the boys."
Brooks, 28, was taken to the hospital, where he said he got about eight to 10 IV bags of fluid put in him. He said he needed to go to the hospital because he was so dehydrated they had trouble finding his veins at the NovaCare Complex.
As he answered questions Tuesday, Brooks realized that whenever he misses practice and Pederson calls it an "illness," folks are going to wonder or assume that it has something to do with the anxiety issue that he dealt with in 2016.
"That wasn't the case," Brooks said. "That's taken care of and I have that under [control]."
Brooks, who somehow missed just two reps Saturday, started to feel like himself the next day, once the fluids were in him for a while. He said he just needs to be a little more aware of dehydration and make sure he's doing what he needs to.

While the big 335-pounder spent four training camps in Houston, which is just three degrees cooler than Hell in the summertime, his body has since acclimated to the weather in Philly. And Saturday was by far the hottest day of this training camp so far.
"The worst part about all that was just feeling bad knowing that my boys are out here grinding and because of what happened, I wasn't out here with them," Brooks said. "That was the toughest part for me, but glad to be back out here and everything's good."
Other injuries
Brandon Graham, Alshon Jeffery and Chris Maragos are all still on the PUP. Tim Jernigan and Bryce Treggs are still on the NFI. All five were still not practicing as practice kicked off.
Treggs (knee) said he expected to practice this week, but that wasn't the case as the Eagles took the field today.
Shelton Gibson was involved in a collision and seemed woozy before he was helped off the field and then into the locker room. That's a shame, because Gibson has been having a good camp.
Matt Jones left practice early with an unknown injury. Adam Zaruba wasn't practicing after getting hurt Sunday. And D.J. Killings and Josh Adams weren't practicing either; they were working with trainers on a side field.
