With individual player workouts set to start Tuesday, Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey welcomed his latest signing on Monday night.

Forward Lamine Diane's contract with the Sixers is an Exhibit 10 deal, SNY’s Ian Begley reports

Diane, 23, was born in Senegal and moved to the United States in 2015. He was ultra-productive in two seasons at Cal State Northridge, averaging 25.6 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.7 steals this season. Because he was academically ineligible for the fall semester, he only played in 19 games.

He’s 6-foot-7, 205 pounds, with long strides, a 7-foot-plus wingspan and traits that suggest he can be a versatile professional defender. A two-time Big West Player of the Year, Diane declared for this year’s NBA draft and was not selected.

In an interview with Professional Basketball Combine Director of Scouting Jon Chepkevich, Diane noted that a shoulder injury hindered the development of his shot. Diane made 23 of 79 college three-point attempts (29.1 percent) and his 58 percent mark from the foul line is not encouraging, but perhaps he can grow into a more reliable outside threat. One area of concern is his decision-making; in his college career, he had 40 more turnovers than assists.

A wrist injury forced Diane to redshirt his freshman year.

“It was kind of hard,” Diane told David Connelly of Mid-Major Madness. “I came ready to play and ended up getting hurt. That was my first time getting hurt in my life. Going through that pain and stuff was hard for me, I just wanted to come back. But I think it helped me in the long term.”

Exhibit 10 contracts are non-guaranteed, one-year deals that can come with a bonus of as high as $50,000 to join a team’s G-League affiliate. The Sixers evidently like the idea of Diane playing for the Delaware Blue Coats and head coach Connor Johnson, although it’s not yet clear what form the G-League season will take.

The Sixers’ first preseason game is Dec. 15 vs. the Celtics and the NBA regular season will tip off Dec. 22.
