‘What the Phillies Need': Fans, Bryson Stott Lose It Over Trea Turner Signing

Phillies fans absolutely lose it over Trea Turner signing originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

The Phillies did it. They landed superstar shortstop Trea Turner.

The team is expected to sign Turner to an 11-year megadeal worth $300 million, a seismic offseason move signaling their intent to make sure the 2022 World Series run was not a one-off.

Turner brings an electric bat, world class speed, and a solid glove to the infield and signals Bryson Stott's official move to second base after the departure of Jean Segura this offseason.

It's a huge signal from the Phillies front office that they're in it to win it for the next decade, which rules.

And unsurprisingly everyone in the Philadelphia area, from current players to each and every fan, lost their collective minds when the news came down:

That's a lot of excitement, and deservedly so.

Turner brings a career .302/.355/.487 slash line with 124 home runs, 434 runs batted in, 230 career stolen bases, and a batting title. He also brings a World Series ring, making him the second player in the likely everyday lineup with a championship pedigree along with Kyle Schwarber.

It's just a titanic move for the Phillies, who should once again be competing deep into October next season.

Buckle up.
