Bryce Harper Plays Catch With Lucky Phillies Fan at Citizens Bank Park

Bryce Harper provides lucky kid with a lifelong memory originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia

How cool is this?

A young fan seated down the right-field line at Citizens Bank Park Thursday night brought a "Play catch with me, Bryce" sign and Harper obliged, throwing him a handful of warmup tosses prior to an inning.

Thursday was a crazy night in South Philly. It rained all day and night but the game went on without any delays. The Phillies quickly found themselves down 6-0 but rallied back to win 12-6. It was the third time this month they've overcome a six-run deficit and the fourth time this season.

Surprisingly, Harper went hitless in the Phillies' 12-run outburst. He was 0 for 2 with three walks and a run scored.Β The MVP favorite enters the weekend hitting .312/.432/.618 with a league-leading 1.050 OPS. He has 39 doubles, 33 homers, 80 RBI, 95 walks and 96 runs scored.Β

No Phillie since Bobby Abreu in 2004 has reached 40 doubles, 30 homers, 100 runs and 100 walks in a season. And only one big-leaguer has done it in the last 10 seasons -- Matt Carpenter in 2018.
