The Sixers continued to round out their roster for the 2018-19 season on Friday when they re-signed guard Demetrius Jackson to a two-way contract.
The move closed out a busy week that saw the Sixers officially complete a three-team trade that netted big man Mike Muscala, sign 2017 second-round pick Jonah Bolden and ink 2018 second-rounder Shake Milton to a two-way deal.
Jackson played 15 total NBA games last season between Houston and Philadelphia (three with the Sixers). He spent most of his time in the G League as he posted 14.7 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 28.8 minutes over 26 games.
More recently, Jackson played for the Sixers during the MGM Resorts NBA Summer League in Las Vegas where he averaged 8.2 points, 4.5 assists and 3.5 boards in 24.8 minutes a night as the team's starting point guard.
"I think just being vocal. I think trying to be vocal on and off the court," Jackson said at the conclusion of summer league when asked what he focused on improving this offseason. "Trying to keep guys together even when we were down. A lot of times when I was down before I kind of shut myself out, so I felt more confident in that area. That's just something I want to keep working on, keep working on my game, try to keep growing, keep getting better every day."
Under the NBA's two-way contract rules, Jackson will provide services to the Sixers and Delaware Blue Coats next season. He can spend up to 45 days with the Sixers, afterwards he must be signed for the remainder of the season or released.
