Joel Embiid on Team Giannis, Ben Simmons Part of Trade to Team LeBron for NBA All-Star Game

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were going to remain teammates during All-Star weekend.

Embiid was captain Giannis Antetokounmpo's second pick among the starters while Simmons was the Greek Freak's second pick among the reserves.

We say "were" because after the draft concluded, the other captain, LeBron James, proposed a trade.

And a super historic moment occurred as the first-ever All-Star draft-night trade was consummated.

Simmons and James are close and share the same agent in Rich Paul. It was a little surprising James didn't pick Simmons, but James was upset when Antetokounmpo took him.

This of course creates an awkward situation for Embiid, who will now be teammates with his known rival Russell Westbrook. Antetokounmpo did mention that if he had the opportunity, he would draft both players and try to have them settle their beef.

Something tells us that's not likely.
