Jorge Alfaro bats eighth tonight in his first big-league start.
Both he and Roman Quinn are in the Phillies' lineup Tuesday against the Pirates. Quinn bats second and plays left field. Alfaro is eighth and behind the plate to catch Alec Asher (see game notes).
For Quinn, it's his third start in as many nights at a new position. He started in center field on Sunday, right field on Monday and left field tonight. Center field is his most natural position, but the Phillies don't want to tinker around with Odubel Herrera this late in the season.
Quinn bats second again; Herrera is sixth. Freddy Galvis, he of the 18 home runs, bats fifth, protecting Ryan Howard.
Outfielder Starling Marte remains out for the Pirates.
