Tonight's Lineup: Jimmy Paredes Bats 3rd, Cody Asche Bats 6th

The two most recently added Phillies are both in the lineup for Thursday's series opener against the Brewers.

Jimmy Paredes, acquired Wednesday from the Blue Jays, bats third and plays right field. Cody Asche, activated from the DL Thursday, bats sixth and plays left field.

It makes sense for Pete Mackanin to try some new things with the lineup given the anemic state of the Phillies' offense. Paredes and Asche are not going to alter the course of the season, but any little bit helps. They both have more power than the players they replaced on the 25-man roster, Emmanuel Burriss and David Lough.

Andres Blanco gets the rare back-to-back start. He bats second and plays second Thursday after having a two-hit night Wednesday. Blanco is hitting .288 with an .841 OPS in 73 plate appearances this season.

Maikel Franco returns to the lineup after sitting vs. Max Scherzer. Franco is 2 for 6 with a homer and three RBIs against Thursday opponent, Chase Anderson (see game notes).
