With a lefty on the mound for the Colorado Rockies, it's an all-righty lineup for the Phillies.
Pete Mackanin loaded his Saturday lineup card with righties and switch-hitters to face Tyler Anderson, a lefty who beat the Phillies a month ago. Cesar Hernandez and Peter Bourjos are at the top of the lineup for Mackanin, a night after Bourjos batted eighth in a Phillies win.
Carlos Ruiz will start for the second time in three games. He had a hit and two walks in Wednesday's 6-2 win against the Dodgers and has four hits in his last six at-bats. The veteran catcher has reached base safely in 11 of his last 12 starts.
Meanwhile, Odubel Herrera will be on the bench for the fifth time this month. Mackanin has held the second-year outfielder out of the lineup against lefty starters thanks to weak numbers against southpaws this season. After a barely noticiable split last season, he's hitting just .225 with a .261 slugging percentage against lefties while sporting a .305 average and .473 slugging percenatge against righties.
Herrera joins Cameron Rupp and Ryan Howard out of the lineup after big days on Friday. The trio combined for six hits, two walks, five RBI and four runs in a 10-6 win.
Aaron Altherr has torched lefties in a limited sample this year. He has a .333/.429/.611 triple slash against them in 18 at-bats with a .220/.289/.390 line against righties in 41 ABs. He will bat third on Saturday and slide over to centerfield in place of Herrera.
Here's the full Phillies lineup in pursuit of a third straight win.
