With Andrew McCutchen suffering an ugly knee injury Monday night in San Diego, the Phillies are turning to one of their top prospects to try to fill his spot.
Adam Haseley, who was promoted to Triple A just six days ago, is on his way to the majors.
According to manager Gabe Kapler, McCutchen's injury is a knee sprain and the outfielder will have an MRI Tuesday.
Haseley, 23, was the eighth overall pick in the 2017 draft out of the University of Virginia. He has hit at every minor-league level and was on a track to make it up to the majors at some point this summer even before McCutchen's injury, which expedited the process.
In 958 career minor-league plate appearances, the left-handed Haseley has hit .293/.359/.433. He has played all three outfield spots, with his most minor-league work coming in center field. He takes his walks, doesn't strike out much and will collect some doubles with his gap power.
