When you're the owner of a professional sports team, spending goes a long way in energizing the fanbase. And right now, Phillies fans are very happy with John Middleton.
Over at Reddit, a nationwide poll was conducted on baseball subreddit regarding fans' confidence level in their team's coaching staff, front office, ownership, roster and farm system.
Phillies fans had the second-highest percentage of confidence in ownership at 92.8%, behind only the Astros at 94.1%. The Padres, who spent nearly as much on Manny Machado as the Phillies did on Bryce Harper, were third at 90.4%.
There aren't many surprises in the lists. Blue Jays fans, largely because of Vladimir Guerrero Jr., were 100% confident in the farm system. Just 2.2% of Marlins fans, subjected to so many years of terrible baseball around two World Series trophies, are confident in their roster.
Interestingly, only 2.2% of Nationals fans expressed confidence in manager Dave Martinez.
