The Phillies got things started on Day 2 of the MLB draft by selecting high school shortstop Jamari Baylor with their third-round pick, 91st overall.
Baylor comes from Benedictine College Preparatory School in Richmond, Virginia. He is a right-handed hitter with speed, athleticism, a strong arm and developing power who has risen recently on draft boards.
Over the last 20 years, the only player drafted 91st overall who made any sort of impact in the majors is current Padre Wil Myers.
The Phillies took UNLV shortstop Bryson Stott 14th overall on Monday night. They did not have a second-round pick, forfeiting it to sign Bryce Harper.
