Rookie RB Inactive After Car Accident

A surprise name on wound up on the Eagles inactive list for the team’s Sunday Night showdown against the Cowboys after he was reportedly involved in a minor accident Sunday morning.

Rookie RB Dion Lewis was ruled out for the first time in his NFL career. The fifth-round pick out of Pittsburgh has rushed for 31 yards on seven attempts through the Eagles first six games.

Lewis was "in a minor accident" earlier in the day, Sunday Night Football on NBC tweeted.

The Eagles say Lewis was shaken up but wasn't hurt and would be on the sideline during the game, CSNPhilly.com reported.

Without Lewis, the Eagles have only Ronnie Brown backing up starting RB LeSean McCoy.

Brown is also expected to return kicks in place of Lewis.

Fellow rookies CB Curtis Marsh (third-round pick) and OL Julian Vandervelde (fifth-round pick) once again sat for the Birds. Both rookies have yet to suit up for the Eagles.

Former starting S Jarrad Page was also inactive. LB Keenan Clayton, OT Winston Justice and DE Phillip Hunt rounded out the inactives.

The Cowboys inactive list was headlined by injured RB Felix Jones (ankle). Rookie Demarco Murray coming off his 253-yard rushing performance last week should see the bulk of the carries once again.

The rest of the Cowboys inactives were OL David Arkin, DL Joshua Brent, DL Clifton Geathers, C Kevin Kowalski, OL Daniel Loper and QB Stephen McGee.
