Lawyer Denies Sheen Coughing Up Bail for Lenny Dykstra

There were reports this morning from TMZ and the New York Post that actor Charlie Sheen paid Lenny Dykstra’s bail money earlier this week. The Post report came with your now quite predictable and rather boring nutjob quote from the actor...

The rendition guilty trolls that kidnapped my dear friend Nails clearly forgot that he's a fellow Vatican assassin and his best pal is a warlock.

Yeah yeah yeah, tiger blood and all that. But that report was shot down Tuesday in the New York Daily News. And the denial comes from a rather unlikely source, Dykstra's own attorney:

Charlie Sheen has absolutely nothing to do with posting the bond in the federal case," Dykstra's lawyer Mark Werksman told the News. "He's a friend and supportive of Lenny, but there's simply no truth to this rumor."

This, of course, begs the question as to just who put up the $22,000-plus bail money. And if the lawyer is telling the truth, why did Sheen claim to have helped with the bail? What good does that do Sheen? Is the lawyer being less than upfront about all this?

I have a sense that Sheen and Dykstra probably met each other drunk at a bar ONE time and said they’d be bros forever after that. I don’t think they actually hang out. I bet they hardly know anything about each other. It’s just that they know they have a lot in common (namely, being astonishingly deluded), and therefore support each other because it’s just another way of supporting themselves. Sheen and Dykstra share an abiding moral philosophy, and that philosophy is that they are awesome and anyone who says bad things about them is weak and/or evil. But as to the matter of bail money, I’m not sure either man knows precisely what the heck is going on. When it comes to Dykstra and money, we KNOW that’s historically been the case.

Either way, someone put up that bail money. Maybe the lawyer did. Maybe Sheen did. Maybe a family member did. We may never know, but what we do know is that the odds of Lenny paying that person back are far below his career batting average.
