Noted quarterback whisperer and self-appointed guru Jon Gruden — who is absolutely never wrong about these kind of things — has some high praise for Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott.

“I think you’re seeing a little Donovan McNabb, dual-threat, physical stature-type traits throughout the preseason,” Gruden said of Prescott’s impressive play. “I’m not shocked that he’s played this well.”

Prescott, who has been thrust into the starter's role with Tony Romo's back injury, has been a revelation for the Cowboys, completing 78 percent of his passes for 454 yards and five touchdowns during the preseason.

Of course those impressive numbers have come against the opponents’ backups. And we all know about the Cowboys’ looooooonng history of losing when the backup quarterback is thrust into the starting role year after year when Romo routinely breaks his back bending over to tie his shoes in the morning. So maybe those comparisons to McNabb are a bit premature.

Ah, who am I kidding, Dak Prescott has looked like the real deal so far.

And to be compared to the greatest quarterback in Eagles’ history comes with quite the lofty expectations, puking in the huddle included.
