Philadelphia-based Comcast cable has turned to the FBI to investigate how pornography interrupted its feed of the Super Bowl Feb. 1.
Thousands of Comcast's Tucson, Ariz.-area customers were watching the company's standard definition feed during the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl when they were subjected to a 30-second clip from a pay-per-view porn channel.
Comcast spokeswoman Kelle Maslyn said in a statement e-mailed to the Arizona Daily Star that the company has shared its information on the situation with the FBI and will continue to cooperate fully with the investigation.
Maslyn added the internal investigation has proven the cable operator's technical systems were working properly.
Comcast is Southern Arizona's second-largest cable provider, with 80,000 customers.
