For the first time since Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard went to see Dr. Mark Myerson in Baltimore a few weeks back, the slugger returned to the Phillies locker room in Clearwater, Fla. Wednesday.
He walked in early to smiles from his teammates but what could not be ignored was the boot – still -- covering his left foot and ankle.
Howard, who is recovering from complications following Achilles surgery, did talk about where he is and said "I feel it's getting better each day."
He had a light workout this morning on his own, which included taking some ground balls and riding a bike, but had the boot on.

Still no timetable for his return, but he did conclude "I will pick up my recovery where I left off."
However it’s hard to think Howard will be back before June.
