CONCACAF Gold Cup Soccer Tournament to Make Stop in Philly

The battle for the best soccer team in North America in 2017 will include a game at Lincoln Financial Field in July.

The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday the North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) will hold one knockout round game at the Linc, making the South Philly stadium a repeat host for the tournament.

The 12 other locations around the country hosting games are Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angles, Nashville, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Diego, Tampa Bay, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York region (Red Bull Arena is located in North Jersey).

The United States team has already qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup, along with Canada and Mexico. Those three teams automatically qualified to represent the continent. Four other national teams – Curacao, French Guiana, Jamaica, Martinique – are also assured a spot in the competition.
