Don't be surprised if you see something out of the ordinary on the roof of the Spectrum -- it's the latest publicity stunt from the crown princes of basketball.
Harlem Globetrotters plan to make history with “Remember the Spectrum” game on the roof of the Spectrum... it's part of the seemingly-never-ending goodbye to "America's Showplace."
With assistance from Amquip Crane Corp., a full court will be created on the roof, complete with two 10-foot hoops from Modell’s and a center court Globetrotters logo stretching 20-feet in diameter.
The "game" against the Washington Generals has been moved from March 3 to March 5th at 1:30 p.m according to Comcast-Spectacor.
The Globetrotters are excited about heading to new heights according to Globetrotters CEO Kurt Schneider.
“We’ve played in so many unique venues over our history, and this game will surely add to that legacy. You might say we are ‘over the top’ excited to play on the roof,” said Schneider.
The historic performance will last 19 minutes and 67 seconds to commemorate the Spectrum’s first year in 1967.

Bad news for fans -- just like the Beatles final performance on the roof of Apple Studios, there will be no tickets made available for this event.
Don't fret fans, you can still see them trot -- the Globetrotters will be crossing the parking lot to play at the Wachovia Center on Sunday, March 8 at 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets are available now at ComcastTIX.com or 1-800-298-4200.
Now let's just hope they don't let the ball roll off the roof.
The Spectrum will be demolished at the end of 2009 to make way for Philly Live, a retail, restaurant and entertainment complex that is being developed in a partnership between arena owner Comcast-Spectacor and the Cordish Company.
