Freddie Mitchell: I'm Not a Deadbeat Dad

Is Freddie a deadbeat dad?

Former Eagle Freddie Mitchell was pulled over on the Blue Route Sunday morning in a silver Maserati, according to state police who say they clocked him at 81 mph.

When they ran his Florida license through, a warrant popped up out of Indiana and Mitchell was hauled down to the Lower Merion Police Department. He was arrested on charges of being a fugitive from justice.

Leslie Gudel of Comcast SportsNet twittered Sunday that Mitchell was arrested for failing to pay child support.

Mitchell, who says he now splits his time between Florida and California, was in town to guest host on 97.5 the Fanatic this week, according to The 700 Level.

FredEx acknowledged the allegations Monday morning on 97.5 as co-host Dan Swartzman joked that he wasn't even sure if Mitchell would show up for work or if they would need to do the guest spot via video teleconference while Mitchell sat in jail.

Mitchell said he had no idea there was a warrant out for failure to pay child support.

"I didn't even know I had it... can I get a letter or something?"

He joked about the entire thing and even thanked his lawyer instead of his hands.

"I'm here, I'm loving life," said FredEx.

Mitchell didn't condone being a deadbeat dad and didn't give up much in the way of details but said that his issue was not with making sure his daughter was taken care of but rather with her mother.

"It's my little girl, my little princess," he said.

The self-proclaimed "People's Champ" said he loves his daughter and that the payment issue was partly because her mother has most of the parental control as dictated by the courts and that he wants to spend more time with his daughter.

"If (women) want to do something on spite and not let you see your kids -- they can do it," he said in reference to his situation.

Mitchell, 31, was arraigned via video and then released on $250,000 bail.
