Shayne Gostisbehere Benched Tonight Vs. Jets

A stunning development occurred at Thursday's morning skate.

Flyers coach Dave Hakstol announced that star defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere will be a healthy scratch for tonight's game vs. Winnipeg (7:00/CSN & CSNPhilly.com).

The Flyers' defensive struggles have been well-documented -- their 3.53 goals allowed are most in the league -- and Gostisbehere enters the day as a minus-4. Last season, he finished a plus-8.

“I think all of the elements are there,” Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol said. “It gets a little tougher the second time around. For me, all the elements of Shayne’s game are there, but it’s just continued growth and development as he continues to move forward. There’s not one element that’s missing.”
